IUSSTF Travel Grant to avail already awarded fellowship and sabbatical positions in U.S./India

Purpose

 

To enable scientists from academia and laboratories to undertake leave from their teaching and regular assignments to spend useful time in the foreign lab/ institution towards enhancement of their professional and academic skills through teaching/ lecturing or through R & D work.
  • Eligibility Requirements
    1. Scientist working at American/ Indian academic and research institutions are eligible
    2. Scientist has an already awarded fellowship/ sabbatical position
    3. Scientist has NOT availed of financial assistance from IUSSTF in the last two years
    4. Research project to be carried out at the host lab or teaching/ lecturing assignments in the foreign institutions
    5. Valid invitation by the host institution
    6. No-objection from parent institution
  • Proposal Evaluation

    Proposals will be considered on basis of peer-reviews conducted both in India and United States towards Award.
Proposal should not be more than 16 pages maximum including CV’s
No salary support to be provided by the IUSSTF
Travel support offered is by economy class and shortest route only
PROPOSAL FORMAT
(I) Travel Grant to avail already awarded fellowship and sabbatical positions in U.S./ India
  1. Title of activity
  2. Proposed institution and duration
  3. Contact information of both US & Indian Principal Investigator
  4. Executive summary
  5. Background, concept and objectives
  6. Statement of work to be done:
    1. Plan of work
    2. Specific activities to be undertaken by the Indian and US collaborator
    3. Experimental methods
  7. Description of scientific work planned describing
    1. Specific need for the joint work (should not be confined only to access to instrumental facilities)
    2. Tangible outcome expected and its relation to present state of knowledge in the field
    3. Mutual scientific benefit to be accrued to both sides
    4. Follow up activities that may emerge towards a sustained collaboration
    5. In addition, include any other relevant aspects in the application which may be useful for the reviewer to make a qualitative judgment on the application.
  8. Brief CV of the applicant and the host
  9. Invitation from host institution
  10. No objection certificate from parent institution
  11. Total estimated cost in the prescribed Budget Format A
    1. Funds sought from the Forum under specific budget lines
    2. Expected funding from other sources including in kind contributions
    3. Details of financial support sought from IUSSTF and committed support/fellowship from other sources.
